A family-run bakery in Portland. Sourdough, croissants and custom cakes — all of it mixed, shaped and baked the same morning you eat it.
What comes out of the oven
We keep the list short so everything gets the attention it needs — long-fermented dough, real butter, and cakes decorated by hand.
Naturally leavened, fermented overnight and baked dark. Crackly crust, soft open crumb, keeps for days on the counter.
Fresh loaves out of the oven each morning we're open.
Laminated by hand with butter, proofed slow and baked until the layers shatter. Best in the first hour — which is why we open at 7.
Available while the morning bake lasts.
Your flavors, your message, your colors. Tell us the occasion and how many people, and we'll bake and decorate it for your pickup day.
Cakes are made to order — please pre-order.
Cake pre-orders
No guessing, no back-and-forth. Four steps from idea to candles.
Date you need it, number of servings, flavor ideas, and the message you'd like written on top.
We reply with what we can do, the price, and a pickup time during our open hours.
Your cake is baked and decorated on its pickup day — not pulled out of a freezer.
Boxed, labeled and ready at the counter between 7am and 2pm, Wednesday through Sunday.
Come by
The bake starts long before the door opens. By 7am the sourdough is cooling and the croissants are still warm. We close at 2 — or whenever the shelves are bare.
About us
Sunrise Bakery is run by our family. There's no central kitchen and no overnight truck delivery — the mixing, shaping and baking all happen here, every morning we're open.
That's also why we only make a handful of things well. Sourdough and croissants for the counter, and custom cakes for the days that matter to you.
Good to know
As early as you can. Custom cakes are baked and decorated on the day you pick them up, and we only take on as many as we can do well, so popular weekend dates fill first. Send your request with the date and we'll tell you straight away whether we can take it.
It depends on size, flavor and how detailed the decoration is. Tell us your servings and what you have in mind, and we'll quote you before anything is baked — no surprises at pickup.
Yes. Include the exact wording in your order so we get the spelling right, and let us know any colors you'd like us to use.
Cakes are picked up at the bakery during open hours, Wednesday to Sunday, 7am–2pm. We'll agree on a pickup time when we confirm your order.
Absolutely — that's most of our morning. We bake a set amount each day and once it's gone, it's gone, so earlier is better, especially for croissants.
Ask us in your order. We'll be honest about what we can and can't do safely in a small kitchen that works with wheat, butter, eggs and nuts daily.
Send us the date, the number of people and the flavors you're dreaming about. We'll take it from there.
